Indirect Coal Firing Systems

Alpena, MI

Industry: General Industrial

Project Scope

The purpose of the project was to install Indirect Coal Firing Systems on two existing kilns. The project was in alignment with the goal of reducing S02 and NOx emissions in North America. The schedule for start-up of the first system was very aggressive and required working closely with the Owner to establish milestone schedule dates. Structural steel fabrication time was short and had to be prioritized to meet the schedule. Successful pre-planning attributed to completing all of the established milestone dates on time.

CR Meyer performed all of the civil and mechanical installation work. The civil portion of the project included: construction of a new blower room, tool room, and structural steel frame buildings for housing new equipment. Some of the mechanical work included installation of new dust collectors, screw conveyors, coal bins, blowers, burners, and modifications to the coal pulverizers.

When it comes to safety and quality, data is important, but the true measurement comes down to attitude, respect, willingness to cooperate, acknowledgement of achievements and pride in a job well performed. Thank you!
