Cogeneration Project

Fullerton, CA

Industry: Pulp and Paper

Project Scope

A California facility needed to produce full power on-site for the total operation of the paper mill, including two paper machines and converting facilities. This included installation of 15 megawatt gas turbine, natural gas compressors, 2.5 megawatt steam turbine and condenser, reverse osmosis system, heat recovery steam generator.

With an extremely tight budget and project schedule, CR Meyer went straight to work by providing budgeting, scheduling, cost control, and construction management. All work, except for CR Meyer self-perform work, was competitively bid and done on a lump sum basis to maintain cost control. CR Meyer was challenged with minimizing interference and downtime with mill operations while working with the local utility to tie the new electrical into the mill’s operating system. In less than 72 hours, CR Meyer was able to tie the new operating system into the existing substation.

CR Meyer played a key role as a partner in the overall success of our project. The entire construction team was fully engaged and committed to delivering the successful results of being under budget, starting up early and attaining end-of-curve production in unprecedented time.
