A1 Conveyor Demolition Project

Palmer, MI

Industry: Mining

Project Scope

The Owner required the removal of an unsafe conveyor belt and structure caused by a fire. CR Meyer was tasked with engineering and implementing a stabilization and demolition plan for this A1 conveyor.

CR Meyer designed and engineered the temporary shoring and crane pick plan, for sequencing the removal of the damaged structure. To minimize potential risks, a subcontractor’s hydraulic shear was used to dismantle and cut the structure after it was safely hoisted to the ground by CR Meyer tradesmen. Due to the structural instability, the engineering was challenging and required sequencing the removal of the conveyor sections. Wooden timbers were engineered into the shoring plan to stabilize the structure enough to allow safe access for our employees to perform the demolition.

Project Stats

  • CR Meyer Self-Performed: Design and Engineering (Temporary Shoring Plan), Demolition
The quality of work and management helped these start-ups set a new benchmark for the machines. CR Meyer demonstrated their ability to be the general contractor of major installations by quickly resolving any subcontractor trades or billing issues and coordinating multiple disciplines in a limited work space.
