Woodyard Improvements

Savannah, GA

Industry: Pulp and Paper

Project Scope

Our customer needed water, air, and sanitary piping for their woodyard improvements. CR Meyer was responsible for the deep excavation, all rebar and concrete for the base/walls of the sump pit, all the piping, and the installation of two bar screens and two pumps. The sump pit was installed at the end of the existing flume with the bar screens and pumps feeding the new clarifier.

With the deep excavation around existing equipment, water control was an obstacle. As a result, CR Meyer had dewatering pumps to redirect water back behind the dam as it seeped into the work area.

Another challenge was working under a running conveyor which continuously dropped fines around the area. This area was also a confined space. CR Meyer constantly monitored the space by having a hole watch while work was going on.
